Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is the twenty-first main installment in the Call of Duty franchise and the seventh entry in the Black Ops sub-series, co-developed by Treyarch and Raven Software and published by Activision . Released on October 25, 2024, this title marks a major revival for the series after the disappointing reception of Modern Warfare III .

Set during the early 1990s—a period of transition and upheaval in global politics characterized by the end of the Cold War and the rise of the United States as a single superpower—Black Ops 6 delivers a spy action thriller experience across three core modes: a cinematic single-player Campaign, a best-in-class Multiplayer, and the epic return of Round-Based Zombies .

Story Overview

While the Gulf War commands the global spotlight, a shadowy clandestine force has infiltrated the highest levels of the CIA, branding anyone who resists as traitors. Exiled from their agency and country that once hailed them as heroes, Black Ops veteran Frank Woods and his team find themselves hunted by the military machine that created them .

Stripped of their titles, connections, weapons, tech, and allies, they are forced to go rogue, partnering with the criminal underworld to stay one step ahead of their own corrupted government. Players assume control of a silent protagonist, “Case,” as he and a team of rogue CIA operatives work to hunt down Pantheon, a paramilitary group with covert ties to the agency .

The campaign features 11 missions, estimated to take at least 8 hours to complete . Players typically have multiple ways to approach objectives, with some missions including stealth elements. Between missions, players can access a safe house, where they can select new missions via an evidence board and spend cash found throughout missions on various in-game perks .
